Quick Tips
Another practical tip for motorists is to plan their parking ahead of time. Owing to the fact that the hotel lies within a central area, call up the hotel before your arrival to receive explicit instructions for the advised public parking (Plaza del Olivo) and also inquire about validating your ticket for the hotel's discount. This will save you a lot of time and hassle.
To get the most out of your location, you must dedicate an evening to a "tapeo" (tapas crawl). The streets immediately surrounding the hotel are famous for it. A great tip is to start on Plaza de San Clemente and Plaza Herradores, just a few minutes' walk away, which are packed with lively bars. Try a "torrezno" (a local crispy pork belly specialty) at one bar, mushrooms ('hongos') at another. It's the most authentic way to dine in Soria.
For beautiful and essential Soria, take the scenic path walk by the Duero river. It’s about a 15-20 minute walk from the hotel down to the river. From there, you can follow the “Paseo de San Saturio” along the water, a beautiful tree-lined path that leads directly to the stunning hermitage of San Saturio, built into the side of a cliff. It’s a magical walk, especially in the late afternoon.
Finish up one breakfast at hotel, however, have a “torta de Soria” (local anise-flavored cake) in one of the traditional pastry shops (“confiterías”) on Calle el Collado just steps from your door. Having one of these with a coffee is what very many locals do for their mid-morning snack.
